Two vital support programmes have been announced for North East based businesses. With the support of UMi, these initiatives designed by the North East Enterprise Agency Limited, Enterprising Durham and Enterprising North, are set to ignite entrepreneurial spirit and uplift early-stage businesses in the region.

‘Accelerating Sustainable Procurement’ was an exclusive gathering aimed at bringing together Manchester Airport Group’s (MAG) suppliers to share insights, challenges, experiences, and best practices in sustainable procurement.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care received a £4,000 grant to support core costs, enabling them to provide crucial care to adults with advanced or terminal illnesses. This funding was vital during the pandemic, helping the hospice adapt and maintain high-quality care.

UK-based employees of Virgin companies have helped the charities they volunteer with go further, through Virgin Unite’s £1m Local Legends fund, delivered by UMi. 

Befriend a Child, a charity based in Aberdeen, received a £1,000 grant from UMi to help fund their Befriending Programme. This grant has been crucial in supporting a Befriending Coordinator post, allowing the project to assist 51 disadvantaged children and young people. 

Durham Business Growth is supporting Marmax Products to improve efficiencies and introduce brand new products, making them more resilient to a highly competitive and changing market.
