Visit County Durham Digital Improvement Grant

WHAT WAS THE SERViCE? 

A grant scheme to help tourism and hospitality businesses in County Durham recover from the Covid-19 pandemic by investing in digital technologies and professional services to help them secure more customers, increase their revenues and make them more productive. 

  

WHAT DiD UMi DO? 

We worked with the Visit County Durham team to design the scheme and ensure that it complied with Government funding rules. We created an online application system, including a digital health check tool to enable tourism and hospitality businesses to quickly home in on the ideal solution for them. 

We designed the scheme to enable the grants to be paid directly to suppliers, saving businesses from having to pay their suppliers and claim back the grant.  We managed all aspects of the delivery of the scheme, including paying suppliers and collecting evidence. 

 

WHAT WAS THE RESULT? 

140 County Durham tourism and hospitality businesses received equipment and services worth over £1.2 m.  The scheme ensured that the visitor economy received essential support to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
