UMi’s rising star recognised in 30 Under 30 list
UMi is celebrating after Content Editor Richard Dawson earned his place in The Professional Publishers Association’s 30 Under 30 class of 2022.
The PPA award recognises the brightest young talent from across the UK’s specialist publishing industry.
Richard is a business journalist, content editor, podcast host and employee director working in the content, marketing and events team at UMi.
Over the last five years, Richard has gone from interning at a local magazine with no experience in journalism to interviewing some of the UK’s best known business leaders and entrepreneurs, including companies like UBS, Britishvolt and CBI and public figures such as Richard Osman, Ruby Wax and Andrew Graham-Dixon.
Richard has also played an important part in hosting physical and virtual events and developing UMi’s first podcast series, UMicast.
Upon receiving the news, Richard said: “It is great to be recognised as one of the publishing industry’s best young talents in this year’s 30 under 30 awards.
“I have learned so much in the last five years and can’t thank my colleagues at UMi enough for the opportunities I’ve been given. At 28, I still feel like my career is just getting started but I’m incredibly proud of what I have achieved so far.”
Nicki Clark OBE, CEO of UMi, said: “We are all incredibly proud of Richard and delighted he is joining the PPA 30 Under 30 class of 2022, an accolade he truly deserves.
“As an employee-owned business, and one that is B Corp certified, we measure our success based on three things in equal measure - people, planet, and profit. We’ve worked really hard to create a workplace where talented people thrive, and this is a great example and recognition of achieving that.”
Each year, 30 young professionals are inducted into the PPA’s 30 Under 30 hall of fame for their achievements, drive and creativity as specialists in their fields.
Richard joins a prestigious group of individuals from leading publishers such as Conde Naste, Hearst UK and Time Out Group in being named in the Class of 2022.
